The most common rendering of the Hebrew word, shub, in the Old Testament, sometimes translated as “repent,” is “turn,” or “return.” In the New Testament, Metanoeo, meaning a change of mind, is the Greek word most often translated as “repent” or “repentance” in the New Testament.
Jesus in the following statement: “John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent (metamelomai) and believe him” (Matthew 21:32).
"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
You can lie to others
You can lie to yourself
You can’t lie to HOLYSPIRIT
And You can’t Hide anything from the Lord’s Eyes. One must never take God’s GRACE for granted, it is human nature to Sin and it’s God’s nature to forgive. But our duty is to REPENT anything we do against YAHWEH must be brought to Gods light of Yeshua in our prayer and be asked for the Lord cleanse us in the blood of the lamb for we all are sinners since birth.
A Christian, once saved, is called to bear fruits in keeping with repentance (Matthew 3:8; Acts 26:20). These fruits should be evident, and in alignment with the fruits of the Spirit. This is because the Holy Spirit indwells Christians. Apostle Paul teaches, “but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Gal. 5:22).
We are called to love one another: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Love of God covers multitude of sins.
Why Repent ?
When we cry out, like King David, "Have mercy on me, O God," God responds (Psalm 51:1). When we see our sin and imitate Peter by saying, "Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man" (Luke 5:8), he doesn't "depart." Instead, he begins to work in us, refreshing us, restoring us, and even empowering us to bear godly fruit. In this article, we want to look at these three blessings and then explore the different opportunities God has given us to receive the grace of his mercy and forgiveness.
The first thing God does when we repent is to bring us back from captivity by refreshing our weary hearts (Jeremiah 31:25). He refreshes us by removing the burden of guilt and shame and darkness that sin creates within us. He refreshes us by setting our hearts at peace and showering us with mercy. And he refreshes us by assuring us that we are still his beloved sons and daughters, members of his family and coheirs with Christ.
Acts 3:19 states, “repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
Since a diagnosis dictates the treatment, if sin is the diagnosis, it must be treated with faith and repentance. With sin, real change can only begin with real repentance — a change of the heart.
Heart change brings behavior changes. The deceitful heart is a self-centered machine that demands, “It’s my way in life these days .... we see the slogans on social media it’s all about me, I am my own boss , my life my rules ,which is destroying the relationships not only with each other but primarily with the Lord ,Therefore God only can set you free from the control of personal selfish desires and the control of life itself.
Please read Proverbs 28:13 and Psalm 51 declare it over your life confessing your sins to the Lord Yah . I pray the Lord leads and guides you. May the Holyspirit always be with you and restore you with repentance in Jesus Amen.
